What is the nature of contemporary street photography?

Posted on 19 Oct 2015

There is a twitter-storm brewing around the nature of contemporary street photography. Nick Turpin from the street photography collective iN-Public has been busy sending out tweets outlining his views on street photography ‘traditions’. Many people have expressed views that challenge Nick’s opinions and have suggested that street photography is going through a new phase of development and engagement with the modern world.

This year’s Urban Encounters at Tate Britain will make a contribution to this debate, and ask questions about the nature of street spaces within a wider investigation of the city.
